For your information, Malaysia as a country did not tax, and I repeat did not tax any any computer coming into the country whether they are desktops, laptops, servers or anything that the can convince the Customs that you're bringing in computer.

This is the first time that I heard that an inbound traveler will be taxed at the airport.

The answer is YES you can bring in your laptop and the custom officers at the chech out lane will not tax you.

Absolutely nonsense!!

I carry my notebook in and out of the Malaysian immigration at least 30 times a year for the last 20 year and I have never ever once being asked or stopped at the customs. (at times I had to carry 2 notebooks in my travel as well and there has never been any problem for me)

If I am correct, Malaysia has a tax free policy on electronic gadgets or one of the lowest tax on electronic gadgets in the world. That should give you an idea why Malaysia does not tax these items at all.

YES , you can bring along your laptop into Malaysia. No need to declares it.
If the malaysian customs giving you any problems please report them .They might be trying to get some cash from you.The Immigration only checks passports and visas..Laptop have nothing to do with immigration. But if the malaysian immigration wants to check your laptop ..tell them to go fly a kite and minds they own business that is checking passports and visas.

Should any of the malaysian government staffs or officers gives you any problems which you are NOT quilty of please reports the matter with your embassy as soon as possible.

Malaysia is a highly corrupted country and the police / immigration / custom / Religious dept might want to make some pocket money.
Please be aware.
Thank you and welcome to malaysia
