Well I don't know if Mitsubishi ever had a sister company but definitely had a collaboration.
Diamond-Star Motors (commonly abbreviated to DSM) was an automobile-manufacturing joint venture between the Chrysler Corporation and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. The name came from the parent companies' respective logos: three diamonds (Mitsubishi) and a pentastar (Chrysler). DSM was officially renamed Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America, Inc. in 1995.
DSM can also refer to three of the vehicles produced by Diamond-Star Motors, the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon, and Plymouth Laser.

DaimlerChrysler used to own 37% of Mitsubishi, but sold all their shares several years ago because they thought Mitsubishi was going downhill. Mitsubishi-designed automatic transmissions are used in many Hyundais and Kias. Early Hyundai engines were Mitsubishi designs. Mitsubishi and Chrysler jointly owned an assembly plant in Illinois until the 1990s. The plant is now wholly owned by Mits. So Mits has collaborated with many companies, but doesn't have any sister companies. Mits, Hyundai, and Chrysler Group recently developed 4-cyl engines together - called Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance (GEMA). Mits is also collaborating with companies in India, Taiwan, and China. Mitsu Motors' biggest shareholder at the present is Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

no but american motors often dress up mitsubishi motors to make them look different. Then they "pretend" that they actual built the car.

The Crysler Conquest and the mitsubish starion are the exact same car built by mitsu

The 3000 gt and the dodge stealth are both built by mitsuishi

And the list goes on and on.........so I gues you could say that american motors call mitsu daddy
