kobe is a great player but the greatest? cmon be real....the lakers are just not the great team they were since shaq left regardless of kobe's scoring feats....the greatest of all time was bill russell....no other player had 11 championship rings played in 12 finals and would've won 10 in a row had he not been injured in his second year...russell was a defensive and rebounding genius and his feats were even more remarkable since he dominated during the era of the great wilt chamberlain...the problem with all you kobe and mj lovers is you conveniently disregard the eras long gone...please do a little research before you make such ridiculously sweeping statements

no he is not better than MJ. Jordan was the best basketball player to ever live. and he was a good person... Now someone down there was right about Kobe not having anyone great on his team, but, he isn't facing any defense. Now in the NBA it is all about offense, high flying high scoring games. like lebron, kobe, or wade. When MJ was playing there was defense... that is why MJ never scored as much but jordan was also distributing a lot more than Kobe, But yes, Kobe is good. he is passing more and he can still hit 50 points a game.

Oh crap!!...I would just say yes. Why people think that MJ's personality isn't as bad as Kobe's? MJ is a jerk, a cheap @ss, horrendous golfer, bad businessman, and an ego whore. I bet that half of the people who answered didn't even watched MJ played...they just typed that MJ is better than Kobe because they don't like Kobe. Besides, who the hell cares who's better? Neither of those guys are feeding your kids...

Kobe is the best guard in the league right now, possibly the best player (only Duncan is at his level), but I don't know about all time. He had a great week, but it was only one week in the regular season. it's hard to compare between positions, but there are still several other guard's in history I would take over Kobe, considering their entire career. Obviously MJ (who remains the only guard in history to win a championship without an at least all-star big man on the team), also Magic, Oscar Robertson, and Jerry West. Bob Cousy was also better relative his era, but his skills are not as transferrable to the modern game.

Better than Jordan? Yes. Best ever? No.
I think when you look at the history of the NBA it's hard to look past the dominating big man. How was bigger than Wilt? Yes, it was a different era and he was a giant among men, but he simply dominated every night.
Kobe is the best clutch scorer I've ever seen. Yes, Jordan was fantastic, but as some others have said he had a better team for almost his entire career. Kobe has an average team and still on a given night, the Lakers can knock you out. Why? Kobe.

Kobe is not the greatest. He's a selfish one on one player. Michael though is a team player. He has 6 mvps while kobe has 0. too bad sorry kobe.

Kobe Bryant, is my most favorite NBA player ,but is he better than mike ....common not know but maybe when he wins a few more titles,and plays some defense.......mj won a few of those awards u know defensive player of the year.........Bryant shoots as much and can score as much but dammit man play some defense.....................laker fan 4 life............holla,666.......and 1 more thing Jordan made the players around him better ,he wasn't selfish to pass the ball or give it up to a double team he was smart, Bryant doesn't make players around him better , he makes him self look better first,i hate to say that but its true..........when Kobe starts thinking of teammate's and stop thinking 4 him self then hell be better......and i don't care if he doesn't have the cast that mj had, he wont win a tittle with a cast behind him........

Look at who was on jordan's team---First team NBA Scottie Pippen, Rebound Superstar Dennis Rodman, and 3-Point Specialist Stevie Kerr
Look who is on Kobe's---Injured Lamar Odem, Injured Luke Walton, idk even know the rest bc they are NOT GOOD----No other people on his team make All star games, or NBA offensive, defensive teams
How many people knew of at least 6 players on the bulls when they were winning, basically everybody that ever watched basketball
Kobe has nobody on his team except him, he tried to pass around the ball and they were at best a decent team, now he just goes out and scores 50 every night and they win every night
Put all Jordan's teammates on the Lakers right now and they would be unstoppable
