being mullato myself is it ok for me to say it? and what if teachers say it in the room when they are teaching about mixed ancestry and other kids call you that title to describe yourself.

technically yes.
however in today's society its socially unacceptable.

plus many will find it offensive since you are referring to the old days and those whose ancestry dates back to that time will/may find it offensive that you would dare refer to an era of a dark past.

but its your prerogative. technically you have the right to say whatever you may like but in society its condemned.

This term is considered derogatory in the English language but is acceptable in Spanish or Portuguese. It is not now considered politically correct to refer to ethnicity in a derogatory manner any longer; you might not be offended but the person sitting next to you may be. Sorry, with AA you got the bill that the Whites have been carrying for 50 years.

Where I live we use the term mulit-racial rather than mulatto which has a pejorative feel to it.

Is it okay to say black? Or white, red, yellow? Same thing. Why isn't it okay? If you're comfortable with it it's okay.
