You see these people in advertisements walking along and dancing all over with these earphones. They've got a hook-like piece that is supposed to go behind the ear to keep them in place.
I got some and I can't get them to stay in any better than the ones without the hooks.

Am I doing something wrong?

get better earphones. the newer ones with rubber "sleeves" that go in your ears stay put well. Sony makes a good pair for $50.

I think it depends on your ears. Some people can get the earphones to stay in and some can't. When I was younger my ears were smaller and for the life of me I couldn't get those earbuds to stay put, but now i run around with earbuds in all the time and never have any trouble with them anymore.
The hook things totally don't work, though. They just get in the way.

Some ears weren't made for them, or they weren't made for all ears.

I have to use headphones, which I prefer anyway.

It's not you. The manufacturers didn't make them to fit all ears.
