Gas,then the shots....the last two times I saw the dentist I needed it. The first time I remember feeling VERY spaced out....I started crying for my husband....I've been a widow for a number of years.
The second time,I cried for my brother...he had just died. The nurse told me that patients either laugh or cry......oh,well, I'm allowed.

I used to go to a retired army dentist. His theory was that no pain relief was needed, since he worked very fast. I liked it that the drilling only lasted seconds and that the pain, while intense, was very brief. No one else in my family would go to him, though. I have to admit that he didn't have many patients.
That was in another town. I moved, and have an even better, truly painless dentist now. I think he does a better work, too. He uses novocaine exclusively.

I never had gas before. That would be a whole lot better than the shots, I'm sure. No pain there obviously.
