My father was a Retired U.S. Navy. I grew up seeing Clark Air Base as a clean base like Subic and Sangley Point.

I regret it too much that these werent taken cared of! American base is definitely well kempt during the American time.

There is already the Clark International Airport and Mimosa! There are some shopping malls before but I know they closed also.

Subic, the last time I saw it was organized under the time of Gordon. However, I just dont know if it is still the same since it is under new management now.

In the 1980s, I was an environmental scientist in Korea, but worked with the USAF at Clark Field. Unlike the garbage any earlier answerer spouted, we were very careful to meet all Philippine and US laws and regulations about hazardous materials and wastes. I was responsible for compliance with RCRA and hazardous wastes at Clark briefly in 1983 - the US NEVER IMPROPERLY DISPOSED OF ANY HAZARDOUS (or, even, semi-hazardous) MATERIALS during my time there - and, I suspect, did not after the 1970s when environmental laws in the US became stronger.

Heaps better than when it was a US military installation as we made it into commercial and industrial hub complete with an international airport.
Heaps safer since there's no fear of nuclear threat from anyone against US.
Heaps cleaner as toxic waste are no longer being dumped in there.
