there are actually two types of pills-
One is called the Morning after pill= which is to be taken no longer then 72 hours after intercourse. Let me tell you about this one- it is a very large dosage of a birth control pill- your hormones will become very messed up etc. Should always take a pregnancy test to see if you are not pregnant from another time you had sex.
Then if you are farther along their is Ru-486- which is actually two pills you take -
you go to the clinic or doc office they give you a pill and send you home- you hope to get back to the docs before you actually deliever the sac with the embryo- baby inside. Many women do not. When all this happens it can cause bleeding that lasts up to a month- cramping like you never have experienced- miscarriages and fertility problems later. Many risks to you- Do not do it- for your sake and the babies.

No, it's not the same thing at all. Emergency contaception is given to a woman within 72 hours of having unprotected sex. it keeps her from getting pregnant.
The "abortion pill" is given to a woman after she has already conceived and knows she is pregnant. The abortion pill can only be given out by abortion clinics. Emergency cotraception can be given wherever you can get a script for the pill. In fact, emergency contraception is the pill in stronger form, it will not even make you start your period. The abortion pill is entirely different and will make you abort yor pregnancy.

No, it isn't. Emergency contraception stops a pregnancy before it begins. It stops a sperm from reaching the egg. Abortion pill stops a pregnancy after the egg was fertilized.

No, emergency contraception is in case you have sex without protection, and you take teasing pills that will cheat the gland s that produce LHS and inhibit ovulation, in other words, this pill will not allow the endometrium to get ready for inplantation, therefore the egg, if sperm reached it, will not be able to attach to the wall inside the uterus , consequently , will be wash out during menstruation..Mispristone is the name of the pill and know as Ru 486, when used with Misoprostol will induce contrations to release the uninplanted egg out.

From a medical point of view (not personal opinion, like others are giving you): emergency contraception (Plan B, aka "the morning after pill") is NOT the same as the abortion pill.
Plan B PREVENTS the sperm from fertilizing the egg.
The abortion pill (or injection), such as misoprostol, is used on women who are ALREADY pregnant.

Nope, yuo already have a lot of good answers explaining the difference (ie, the abortion pills kills an embryo and plan B prevents you from ever getting pregnant), but I would just like to add that if you take plan B and you ARE pregnant, it won't end the pregnancy. That's why it's only 89% effective within 72 hours...if you're already pregnant at that time, it does nothing.

heavens NO child, it is not... Plan B is NOT NOT NOT the abortion pill.. the abortion pill is taken when you are pregnant and wish not to be... the Plan B is taken within 72 hours after the broken condom (or whatvever) to help ensure that a pregnancy will not occur. Not the same.Plan B is like taking a big dose of birth control pill...

I don't believe in abortion I think it is murder but because plan B causes your egg to die and you to have a period I do not consider it to be abortion because it prevents a pregnancy and it doesn't end one.It is for some women a life saver like the victims of rape and incest and for others its a well deserved second chance. How ever I believe that if its made easy to obtain(OTC)
some young people will stop using protection and it would then be over used. And when people stop using protection we are going to see a steady climb in stds in teens and young adults. So I think its a great thing for some situations but I think its best left at the pharmacy.

I am all for prolife. But plan B is killing the sperm before it fertilizes the egg. An egg that is not fertilized does not become an embryo. This means that it is still not a baby like most people may think. Emergeny contraceptive is just basically a higher dose of birth control. Please educate yourself more on this topic.

Absolutely not! Don't listen to these people, they don't know what their talking about. They are completely different things! The morning after pill prevents the sperm from fertilizing the ovum. Research it on wikipedia.
