Has anyone read The Odyssey by Homer?

It's a very hard read... but an interesting story. Do you think it would make a good musical, following in the works of Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera?

The Odyssey has been made into a play. My friend was in it last year in college. It was ok, but didn't quite stick to the story line as well as it could have. I think that staging it could be quite hard but it's an interesting and timeless story that I think would definitely be viable for the stage.
