Color. A disgusting filthy little mix of color. Let's see... everytime I color with crayons, it turns nasty, ugly, hideous, horrible, atrocious, awful, peculiar, crappy, frightening, ugly, gruesome, wrong and .. odd. I somehow always choose bright colors and it turns absoloutely .. funky. Well, I use simple coloring tips. Color in one direction, brightest colors first... But somehow I just get weird color combinations.. orange, sky blue, pink or fuschia, lime green, violet, red, black.. So I'm here to ask on how to fix this weird habit I have. I don't exactly favor those colors (except purple/blue) so please don't mention I choose my favorite colors. X_x

* P.S: I'm horrible at managing coloured pencils too. Only thing I'm best at is pencil, plain black and white..

Colour like you are shading with a pencil, on an angle. if you are drawing a line, hold the crayon straight up and down, if not, shade lightly.

Crayons are made of wax so do not easily mix if the layer is too thick, shading lightly is the best answer

what cartoons do you like? Cars, Bugs bunny, Daffy, or maybe Sponge Bob...point is, buy a coloring book or print out coloring pages that has in it pictures of your favorite cartoons, or ones you know of, and mimic those colors.

color slowly, lightly and in circular motions. If circular doesn't work, try another way. Your crayon box should have at least 16 colors in it, or more.

why cartoons ? Because they are posterized colors. They are solids, no fancy shading or things like that.

Have fun!

try not using really bright colors first, maybe if you use the bright type of colors but more subdued, for example goldenrod or some other yellow/tan instead of the brightest yellow there is and then overlay the bright colors so that they are not too intense.
