ok i had asked a question before but now i have some more information that might help some. ok i have very abnormal periods. i got my period at 16 and since then (about 7 years) have only gotten it 6 times. the most recent was in the middle of january but before that it was almost 2 1/2 years. have had no change to my diet or anything else, everything is still the same. and no im not or ever was preganat.
i have seen a doctor and had blood work done and an ultrasound. tested thyroid, hormones, insulin and gluccose levels, cell count, everything. that all came back normal. still waiting for doc to call about ultrasound. if that comes back normal im guessing more test will be done. pretty much my question is, has anyone else been tested for this and had things come back normal and if so what test did you have done next and do you now get your period? im getting very frustrated with this and also (strangely enough) starting to worry because of the fact that the test have come back normal.

the doctor i saw was my gyno. i have not really gain or lost weight, if so its about 5 lbs at most. do not really work out much, just the normal amount of running around work when it gets busy. i am small framed and no one on either side of my family has had this problem. my mom and both of my sisters had gotten it around the age of 13 and it has always been normal for them. im actually fine with the fact of not getting it because of the factor that the few time i have had it, it normally last for about 2 weeks, is heavy and causes severe cramping. i am mainly just trying to find out what is causing it to be like this because of the fact that its not normal.

You could have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) Check out these sites and see if it sound like you. If it does ask you OB/GYN about it. Docs aren't very good at diagnosing it but if you meet enough of the criteria it may help the doc decide.

It does tend to run in families but many women are never diagnosed if it isn't too serious.

They do have BC pills for that now, that help shorten or regulate your periods, but do your homework,
some of these have a list of possible side effects that would leave me rather having to deal with the abnormalities,

cramping and clotting,,,,sometimes Hun, it is just your body,,,,

I have to say I have got one of the weirdest cycles
of anyone I know,,,and there has never been a thing
that a doctor could tell me about it,
other than,,,"its a fluke" well,,,
last time i checked,
isn't a fluke like a weird one time happening? Well, when your told that at least 5-6 times, I don't think it is a fluke,,,

DUB (dysfunctional uterinee bleeding) is what i was told the trouble was,,,
I can have cramps so bad it feels like I am giving birth-again!
I pass clots (hence the cramping)
and sometimes,
I bleed like a 'stuck pig', others I barely spot.....

If this is your diagnosis,,,,they give you options for possible treatment, and from experience,
uterin oblation does not work, it only scars up the inside of your now damaged whom and causes more pain when it comes to be that time,,,,
either it didn't work, or it didn't take,,,,
just be careful,,,,good luck to you,,,
I feel for ya.....hope you get better!!!

You sound like your the same as me... I didn't get my period until I was 17. However, I am very athletic and I do get stressed a lot. I know you said your not very athletic but perhaps you are stressed or something. I wouldn't worry to much about it if your Doctor is telling your fine because I know a lot of girls that haven't had their period in over a year (19 years old). Anyways hope everything turns out okay.

Well, it could just be hereditary and run from someone like an aunt or something. Its excellent that you checked it out just to be safe. You should question whether you exercise off and on,or if you are stress. Other than that its normal and abnormal depending on the person. I had a friend that, had that and she had HPV and got her ovaries frozen, then I have another friend that got it every 1.5 years and she is absolutely perfect. If your test come back they'll usually put you on birth control.

did the dr check for endometriosis? my mom had these, and it was horrible. what about adhesions?

when i started my period, at 13, i had one and didn't get one for 6 months, i was very worried and the dr. put me on a pill which wasn't Birth control, but in about a week after taking it, i got my period. maybe they could give you the pill also. I wish i had files from 13 yrs ago, but i don't, i am sorry.

i would be worried too, cause what if you tried to get prego? can you have kids? see thats why i would worry. good luck, i will be praying and keep meinformed,ok.

Certain women who are athletes or have small frames are prone to having skipped or light periods. Stress and not eating well can cause a skipped period. I can see how it could be frustrating to not have a period, especially if you are sexually active. Have you tried birth controls to regulate it?

it happened to me too for 6 months for the longest but anyways, i was working out too much and constantly losing or gaining weight. that could be the problem. if that doesnt help then talk to ur doctor about it.

My daughter has this problem and it was diagnosed as lazy ovaries. She has to take hormones to get her period to start. you might go see a gynecologist for that problem. Good luck!

Has your Dr considered putting you on birth control pills? Taking the pill can help you get this regulated.
