racial difference?

My best friend is a light skinned african american and I am a at least 5 shades darker. When guys approach her, her skin complection is an attribute but my skin tone makes me have a flaw. Sometimes I hear guys say I am beautiful for a "dark skin girl", my bestfriend is pretty because she is light skin... Please tell me why is this an issue, why should it matter, and your opinion of it.

it is a issue because the chains of slavery may have dropped off our bodies but they still remain on so many peoples minds. i am sorry it is hurting you but you should not let it get you down , but look at it as a gift because while some people have to guess about the mind set of others you will know sooner and that is a heads up to other problems that normally go hand in hand like being controlling and also self hate which to some degree blocks some one from fully loving you. much love:)

Isn't it weird that white people want to get darker, and that dark people want to get lighter? I think the whole issue is a load of sh*t. Don't listen to the idiots! What the h*ll? What' the heck is beautiful for a "dark skin girl" supposed to mean? Trust me, I'm Indian, and you get the exact same issue. They sell all sorts of stupid products that don't work and I'm positive every single Indian girl has tried them one time or another. Don't fall into the rut. There's some idiotic idea that some people have that fair skin is the best. But in truth, it doesn't matter in the least. If you're african american, duh, your skin has a possibility of being dark. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, and it is completely normal. Don't worry, there are many guys out there who don't care about "dark skin." you'll be fine.

I hate this type of **** and I AM mixed between black and white. I hate questions on here that are like, "Aren't we light skinned girls so much better than the darker ones?! LOLZ!" I always think that is such bullsh*t! Everyone is beautiful in their own way and I'm sure that you are gorgeous, NO matter WHAT your skin color is.

One of my BFFs is a dark skinned girl and she is gorgeous and I am light (obviously) and sometimes when we would go walking they would be more into me than her (even though she that would still call out to her and she is beautiful). Plus, beauty and outward appearance only go so far. Your personality makes up sooo much of who you are...without that, you ain't sh*t.

What difference does it make. when you meet someone worthwhile they will not care what complexion you are. I really hate that, I am brown skinned and I think dark complexion is beautiful. be confident, stop worrying about your friend she is probably not that cute you sound self conscious. Black people already have enough to worry about dont cha think

i dont think anything is wrong with anyones color at all, for the guys saying that, that is so not cool, the darker the better( i am inuit/irish) so i am not white but not dark, but dont worry about what guys say it is so not true about color! you will find a man that will love you!

it does not matter what color your skin is and for guys to to say for a dark skin girl is kinda mean! what do they think about beyonce or Gabrielle Union it shouldent matter

Why do u think people frying them self at the beach, spending time and money and don;t care about skin cancer? .....coz dark skin is sexy, its fashion, its looks hot, its ..........
