okay my tulips bloomed once...i planted the bulbs about ...a month or so ago, and now it looks like they are dying since they bloomed. anyone know if this is normal?
side note, all the petals have fallen off after they bloomed stems are like a yellowish brown color...

(-: They do die off after about a month of bloom. But there are a lot of different varieties, so if you choose wisely, you could have about six weeks of blooms.

Pansies are really good for blooming a long time, and they look nice with tulips. Petunias would work, too. Or you can choose a perennial that blooms later in the year (I like balloon flower, which blooms in August) and plant that with your tulips -- after the tulips bloom, the perennial grows up in front and hides the dying foliage. Then you get blooms again!

OH, I forgot -- you should "dead head" your tulips, which means take the dying flowers off. Leave the leaves -- they are collecting energy so that they can make pretty flowers for next year. When the leaves are totally brown and dry, you can remove them.

That is normal they bloom once in the spring & die off
