i'm only upgrading from a 800mhz to a 999mhz. i know my motherboard can take it, but do i have to reinstall? i know when i put more ram in i didn't have to. but something tells me this is different

i'm going to look right now who makes the processors because if they are of a different brand that might be something an answerer should know.
I do know however that they are of the same sort. i don't know the name or acronym but their rods are in the same place. I know it will physically fit into my motherboard.

As long as you are not switching out the MB you should be just fine

NOPE Just Make Sure You Dont Have Any Static Shocks On You When Installing The CPU Or You May Fry The Processor.

it depends on to things
1: if you change your motherboard(at this condition maybe not reinstall)
2:your processor change to another type for example AMD to INTEL or wise versa
at 2 things you need to reinstall windows

that shouldnt be neccesary in the adventure that your upgrading to a pentium your in all likelihood upgrading from yet another pentium or from a celeron. if it really is the case then it will be completely compatable consisting of your motherboard and hence your operating gadget. if thats no longer actual, application is the least of your issues.

ram is used in transfer data only. but the mother board and processor is used to window supported. so it is must to reinstall the OS.
