Safe Mode is designed to help you solve problems that you could not solve with all processes running. It takes away all non-essential services and lets you use the barebones OS.

If your computer is telling you to start in safe mode...there is a problem you may need to do some serious maintenance on your computer. I would start backing up my files NOW....in case i need to reformat my hard drive and start over.

Safe mode should only be used if you have some sort of problem with the computer. You can put the computer into safe mode by hitting the F8 key when you're starting up the computer, as soon as you see the Windows screen come up.

Safe modes means to run your computer with all the original settings, and nothing else. Any software that is set to usually start automatically won't, since that is one of the purposes of safe mode. Safe mode is usually used to install major software and to remove any viruses that are really tricky and almost impossible to remove on normal boot-up (turning on the computer).
Safe mode can be activated by pressing F8 when you turn on your computer and see the loading screen. Not the Windows loading screen, but the first screen you see when you turn on your computer. Just keep on pressing F8 to ensure you press it at the right time. Then a menu should open up. Lots of options can be available. Use your keyboard arrow keys and select boot up in safe mode. Use the enter button to select it. Viola.
Safe mode is used a lot to remove viruses because it usually incorporates itself into a software, and then tries to stop your anti virus software. It could also slow down your internet connection dramatically, depending on what type of virus it is. Safe mode can stop any software from starting up automatically, so you can run your anti virus program, or download one if you don't have any, which virus can stop you from doing. Safe mode is also used when installing major software because any open programs or running in background programs can interfere while the program is installing, making a big mess. Safe mode doesn't allow any programs/ services to run, disabling background most of the time, making the system to run faster also.

In a nutshell, Turn your PC on or Restart. As soon as you see the black and white screen, press and hold the F8 key. Continue holding until you see a black and white menu. Safe Mode is F3 or F5. It looks weird but that’s because Windows is not loaded.

Click Start, Programs, run your Disk Cleanup, Scandisk, defrag, AV program, install, uninstall, whatever.

When it is finished, Restart.

You will probably find your icons messed up. Just drag them back into place.

Safe Mode is used to "troubleshoot" system problems.

You get to safe mode by hitting the F8 key on booting up your system. Safe mode is for diagnostic purposes only and you don't really need to be there unless something is wrong with your machine.

safe mode is a boot option that does not use all of the features of the operating system. it will not run all programs and is used for troubleshooting.
