I don't mean the comfort of the chairs, I mean as far as the placement. I always hear people say "These are good seats." Does it have to do with being able to see the door and the people come in?
Thanks

Four key things come to mind: Noise, Temperature, View, and Traffic.

Noise: It should be relatively quiet - or at least, the noise should be from other diners, not from the take-out area or the kitchen.
Temperature: Not too hot, not too cold. Drafts are the worst offenders.
View: People don't want to be near the kitchen (unless it's hibachi or something) or view the 'staging areas' of a restaurant - registers, break rooms, bathrooms, etc. Window views are good, unless the window looks out over an alley full of delivery trucks (recent experience in NYC).
Traffic: The entrance and staff areas shouldn't cross by their table, but they usually don't want to be in the middle of nowhere, away from their waiter.

I hate sitting in a high traffic area, such as the beaten path that the waiter and waitresses take to the kitchen. I also don't like to be under a draft from the air-conditioner or close to the speaker or other source of music. Since I'm a non-smoker, I don't want to be seated anywhere there is cigarette smoke. I prefer a booth and am willing to wait for the first available. I have--on occasion--even asked to not be seated near any small children, especially a birthday party. In fact, I really don't like being seated by any large group because they tend to talk loud and laugh loud.

No there are good seats and bad ones.

You dont want to be by the kitchen because it gets noisy
If there is a window with a view that can make the spot
Usually the best seat in the house is in the middle of the room where it seems like your the center of attention. Usually on a platform is a good seat too.

A seat dealing with a door is powerful... once you're a gangster. lol For me, that's a seat with an thrilling view. that's a view of site visitors, atmosphere, it is not correct, purely a view. some human beings sense like a quiet spot with extra privateness is a robust seat. i think of all and sundry will agree that a seat too on the threshold of the kitchen, exits, or bogs is a undesirable seat.

I like my seats close to the door, I think what people mean when they say, these are good seats is, it's more less just a figuar of speech, or some might say these look like good seats, seats by a jute box are good seats also.........

I always like to be away from the foot traffic - so people aren't banging into me when the pass my table. But I like to be able to people watch - so a table that is sort of off to the side, but still allows you to see everything.
