who dug up the site sparta, who found the site, i cant find it on the main online encyclopedias

Spartans today are living at the excact same place were the ancient Spartans used to live. There are ancient monuments all over the place, like at the most Greek cities. This is what happens if you have more than 5000 years of History.
Excavations are happening all the time not only in Sparta but around Greece from Greek Department of Civilazation and History and from the Greek Univercities

Sparta was not a site, it was an entire region in Greece back in the day. Like Athens it was one of many city states that existed back then. I think you are thinking of Troy, but i'm not really sure... Look for a map of ancient Sparta and try and find the city that you are interested in... b/c I'm sure there have been many digs in what was once ancient Spart.
