Morning sickness is different for eveyr woman, and every pregnancy, and some lucky women don't get it at all. The only way to know if you're pregnant is to take a test.
But about a week after I conceived I started just feeling nauseous around strong smells or after eating certain things...and especially when I first woke up. Then it moved to vomiting in the early morning and being nauseous for most of the day afterwards. This lasted until I was 9 or 10 weeks, then I just felt nauseous all the time...and at 12 weeks I had a few days where I threw up CONSTANTLY. I even ran a slight fever all those times I was thowing up, so if I hadn't known I was pregnant, I would have been unable to distinguish morning sickness from a virus.

Usually comes on at about 5-6 weeks, happens to about half of all pregnant women, usually happens most commonly during the first trimester.
My first pregnancy was nausea free.
Second pregnancy, about 3 weeks after my period was due I started to get an unsettled, nauseous feeling in my tummy that was sort of there all the time. Sometimes I actually threw up (brushing my teeth was the worst - gagging etc) but most of the time it was just a nauseous feeling. Theer was no pain or acidy feeling. Lasted until I was about 4 mths pregnant then went away quite suddenly.
Acidy, reflux type nausea came later in the pregnancy when the uterus got big enough to start pushing the internal organs around a bit and heatburn ensued.

Morning sickness is caused by an increase in hormones when you are pregnant. That said; it can occur in the morning, afternoon or night. Most women experience it early in pregnancy, but then it gradually goes away. For other women; however, it can last much longer. Some women experience it the entire duration. It tends to be somewhat different for each woman-for some it's just the morning and for others it can last all day. Hard to say whether you have morning sickness or just a stomach bug.

Oh sister, I threw up 8-10 times a day.....24 hours. It never ended. I lost 12 pounds the first 18 weeks. So when they say 'morning sickness' that is only a taste of what I went through. I was even admitted to the hospital twice. But believe me by the time you make it to the second trimester it is like heaven if you have had morning sickness really bad.

Everyone is different. Some have morning sickness all day, some just at certain times. Some throw up, some just feel icky. If you are a couple of days past your period date, I would take a home pregnancy test. Normally you will get a reliable reading by now. I am not sure if you would have morning sickness that quickly.. I didn't, but I had it very mild.

My last pregancy I was sick all day and night the entire time. I ate whatever I wanted and only gained 9 lbs - thats how sick I was.
The thing with morning sickness is its not like a hang over or stomach flu. I didn't throw up acid like during those rough next days. I know this sounds disgusting but its a smoother sick.
If you're prego and sick but not violently ill (at least I wasn't) its probably morning sickness.

"morning" sickness is a joke. its terrible and lasts all day (well at least for me) they say it subsides in 2nd trimester but im 17 wks and just finished hurling for the 2nd time today so i guess its different for every woman. some women get it all nine mos. you are extremely nauseous, have no appetite. i didnt vomit for the first 9 wks then i would vomit every morning and in the middle of the night. but the nausea lasts all day.
i just started gaining weight, i lost 5 lbs my first trimester, so now i am just working to get that back. my doc expects me to gain 25 on top of that im trying but its hard when u throw most of your meals back up!

Different for everybody. I usually have to eat something within 20 minutes of waking up (try leaving crackers or a piece of toast out on the nightstand) You usually have to eat around 6 times a day so you can hold off the nausea. For my family it lasted longest on the first pregnancy.
