You're falling into a big trap - the comparison thing. Your baby will do things when he or she is ready! Some babies are early, some textbook, some take longer, and a baby who goes one way on one thing might go differently on another. It means diddly-squat.

1) My son started sitting unsupported around 6 months. I would put him on the floor, back against the couch, my legs on either side. He could lean, pull up to sit, lean, pull up to sit. As he got stronger I'd put a boppy pillow or other pillows around him so if he fell his little head didn't go WHUMP.

But if you mean sitting up as in going from lying down to sitting, that first happened at 8 months, but he didn't figure out how to do it voluntarily (it happened when he woke up, pop, he'd sit) until around 9 months or so. No advice there, he had to figure that one out on his own.

2) Moving limbs? Well, he could reach out and occasionally hit his target at 2 or three weeks. Sort of. But co-ordinate for grasping was more like 3 months. Moving himself? He took his time. It was more like 7 months.

3) He 'crawled' as in wriggling across the floor on his own around 8 months. I tried propping his knees under his belly to no avail. He didn't get the hang of cross-crawling (the idea most people have of crawling) until he was well over 11 months. One day he just did it. It'll happen the moment you turn your back thinking, "Oh, the baby is ten feet away from , he/she will never get there." For my son, it was the top of the stairs. He didn't make it, but holycrow he moved fast!

4) Pushups. No, seriously. Belly time!

And I haven't got a clue how much he weighed at 4 months, sorry.

1- he was 5 1/2 months old. We never did any "exercises" we just gave him tummy time to help strengthen his back.

2- he was pretty much moving his limbs around (ex batting at a ball) when he was about 3-4 months old

3- he was 7 1/2 months old. He started by getting up onto all fours and rocking back and forth, then around 7 1/2 months he just took off across the room!

4- I think it just has to happen naturally. It's not something that can be forced. Try increasing the amount of "tummy time" your baby has every day.

At four months, my son weighed 15lbs 14oz :)

Exercises? Don't worry. Your baby will learn to do these things at his own pace in spite of you trying to help him along! ;) Just play with baby. Babies like lap-standing, sitting on laps, playing on the floor, reading books (the first two pages, then baby may start chewing on the book). Mine both sat up around six months and crawled around nine months. I don't remember how much they weighed, but the first was little and the second was fat. Fat. Now they're skinny, strong, happy and love to climb on the furniture. The best way to develop arm strength is tummy play. Babies hate it, but it's good for practicing crawling.

I have 2 kids, a 22 month old boy and a 4 month old girl.

My son started sitting up on his own around 7 months old. All we did to help him is prop him up (on furniture, with pillows, etc.) They also now have bumbo chairs (or bebe pods) that are supposed to help them learn.

My 4 month old daughter has pretty good control of her limbs now. She can get her hands and toes to eat them, can rub her hair when she's tired, and can grab onto and hold stuff.

My son began to crawl sometime around 7 months. He wasn't very good at it, and didn't do it very long. Around 10 months he just started walking. To encourage him to crawl I just gave him "tummy time" a lot and crawled with him. He did kinda the army crawl where he wouldn't be up on his arms, he'd just drag them. Now he crawls sometimes just to be funny (and he does it the right way, and fast!)

The best way to develop their arm strength is just by doing lots of tummy time so they practice holding themselves up. Put fun things just out of their reach so they need to reach or scoot for it.

At 4 months, my son was 16 lbs 3 oz and my daughter was 15 lbs. She was a full 2 lbs lighter than him at birth. He had both breastmilk and formula from day 1, and she is exclusively breastfed.

Hope this helps!!

1. my 2 boys sat up around 8 months

2 . cant remember

3. both about 11 months

4. we havent done any exercises to make them crawl or sit up.babies shouldnt be compared and just cos one baby does something at 6 months it doesnt mean yours will.

we started laying our boys on there tummy on a padded blanket when they were about 4 months old. they would start off my lifting their heads up and putting their arms underneath themselves to lift their head higher. they develop themselves and after a while they start to want to reach a toy thats infront of them and will eventually after several months be able to crawl. then everything else just progresses from there.

there was someone i know who had their baby in a bouncing chair all day long. they were either holding there baby or had it in the bouncing chair and it was really late to sit up, crawl and walk.

obviously if you dont lay your baby on the floor he will never learn to do anything.

Babies will learn in their own time but most of these should happen between 4&7 months. I always laid my daughter down on her back and she'd hold onto my fingers and pull herself into a sitting position. As for crawling try putting your baby face down, baby should try to pull feet and arms under their body.

my baby is due in may but i can speak of my neices/nephews etc...a good way to develop the arm strength you have to put them down for tummy time often. give then interesting toys on the floor they will reach for them etc and use their hands more. they sat up about 5-6 months with a cushion just in case they toppled. as for the weight i cant answer but just help the baby along they will get it naturally they're all different! good luck
