Below is the complications of breaking a rib. I search alot of sites but could not find an actual % of severe complications.
Complications:
When ribs break, the sharp edges can occasionally puncture your lung or surrounding tissue. This can cause blood (hemothorax) or air (pneumothorax) to accumulate in the space between your lungs and the walls of your chest. These conditions require immediate medical attention.

I labored with a damaged rib for weeks. It was once hell. Finally went to the health care provider and he mentioned its virtually healed so QUIT YOUR CRYING! lol... j/ok on that aspect. But yeah, you would puncture whatever and no longer only a lung. If you discover and bleeding whatever get again to the health care provider asap. Broken ribs are painful. I do not envy you proper now. I might have got the xray being as you had been already there. Now you may also emerge as coming round again commute.
