if you're 5'2" and 300 lbs. then you are unusually obese and have a long way to go.

You need to eat less calories and more nutrients, increase physical activity, and eventually when you do lose all that weight you will need a doctor to cut off all the extra skin. You can start by not eating as much. Eat fruits and drink water.

You're looking at about 7 years at least before you are able to run a marathon.

You really need to do this with the help and supervision of a doctor. He or she will be able to give you a weekly goal, monitor your health while you prepare, and help you get your diet in order. You may be able to get a prescription to help with your weight loss since you are well above the 30% BMI requirement. It's fantastic that you are interested in getting physically active and you can do it! Just make sure you are safe and well by seeing your doctor! Good luck and good for you for trying!

You need to be very fit.
Get a trainer. People get things like heart attacks if they try to run 20something miles untrained.
You'll need a healthy diet too.
Lots of protein.
