You'll need the operating system CD or media that you want to use, already in its CD drive. Reboot your computer, and when it goes to the very first startup screen (before even windows starts, usually when showing the manufacturer's logo) press F2 or F8 (varies depending on computer, normally it will show for a brief moment on that screen), which ever one wil get you to "Boot from device" menu. You want to choose to boot from your CD drive that has the windows or whichever OS installation disc. It should guide you through reformatting your harddrive if you choose a clean install.

Keep in mind that reformatting will leave absolutely nothing on your harddrive, and no software will recognize your computer (i.e. you have to reinstall everything, and things such as games you bought from Yahoo! or another service that were installed may have to be bought again)

Its easy....use your original windows cd...just boot with it and it will prompt you to format and reinstall windows....You can also do it from the c: prompt. if there is absolutely nothing you want on that drive at boot up hit F8...should give you boot options. Select boot with prompt. At the pompt type: format c: and hit enter. All will be formatted. If you have another PC, slave this drive to that one a slave and format it with the other PC. There ya go! Three diffrent option. Hope this helps.

Then it might initiate from new. Make a lower back up disk in case you prefer to maintain something.
