My son is turning 8 and we have decided on a Pirate Birthday party. I would like ideas for different games, food and decorations. Thanks!

A few pennants with the Skull and cross bones on it is a good start, second would be to use paper decorating ribbon that the hang from the ceiling black and white twisted and draping the room. I would then take paste board and make eye patches with the use of a large rubber band. I would go to the craft store and by several bandannas, one for each child that is going to be there, make a head dress for each one with the bandannas, reds, blues and any other color you can find to include black if you can find it. I would also buy a pinata that looked like a pirate and of course each child would have his/her swing at it like it was a enemy pirate, I hope that this helps

There are alot of pirate crews around. We've hired out a couple of pirates to invade the party. They play swords with the kids, hand out "booty" meaning trinkets, beads, gold etc. Publix had a great pirate ship cake. It was awesom. The birthday bags had plastic swords and eye patches and other goodies from Oriental Trading Company.
Wal marts has some great POTC birthday supplies.

Have a costume party... Ask the kids to dress up like pirates and whoever got the nicest costume wins a "pirate"y prize... Put also treasures around the house and give each kids maps... Prepare foods in a shape of a boat or parrot... Put also posters like Pirates of the Carribean posters....

Hide some "treasure" around the house and make out maps to your guests.

Maybe see about getting a Pinata that looks like a parrot and filling it with those gold coins chocolates.

Get some Mardi Gras beads and pass it out as treasure.

Don't forget to dress up yourself maybe as a pirate or a wench.

Also if you have a flag pole why not raise up the old skull and crossbones instead of old glory for the day.

Make some swords out of cardboard and cover them with Aluminum foil.

Have the kids decorate lil' wooden treasure boxes. Use paints, markers, jewels, stickers, and glitter. Then have the kids fill the boxes with tatoos, coins, candy etc.
