First, you'll have to be very smart and very competent at your primary career. Some of the characteristics you see in astronauts are:
- they are either aviators, scientists, or doctors
- they have high terminal degrees (PhD or MD)
- many were or still are military officers.
So a likely path would be, go to the Air Force or Naval Academy and become a fighter pilot upon graduation. But while flying, work on having the military send you to get a PhD in science or engineering, or an MD (such programs are available, Uncle Sam will pay). Upon getting the degree, work on getting into the astronaut program as soon as feasible. Along the way you'll need to be an exceptional officer to have a chance.

I live five minutes away from NASA and have several friends that work there, and another friend, a fellow chemical engineer, is applying to be an astronaut. Apparently you have to be persistent about applying (keep trying even if you are not accepted) because it is hard to make it. Helps to be in great shape, have a solid professional and moral background, and be fluent in another language -- my friend plans to learn Russian, which is a popular one for the space program.
One thing you should NOT do is wear adult diapers and drive across the country to kidnap your estranged lover's significant other (referring to recent news). That will get you blacklisted very quickly :-) It is unfortunate that a media event like that nearly overshadowed the three historic space walks that occurred that week on the International Space Station.
Seriously, if you are interested, go to the NASA web site and download the application info. In the meantime while you wait for your responses, go to a reputable college and pursue a career with a scientific background. Good luck!

Be a great student and a great athlete then attend one of the colleges that most astronauts attended: United States Air Force Academy, United States Military Academy or United States Naval Academy.

T: you have an apprehension of math because of fact it confuses you and you probable panic a splash on assessments. Say to your self: "i'm good adequate to play this sport with all and sundry." do no longer initiate attempting to memorize all of the formulaes. communicate seeing the logic. A math equation is purely purely that: One area might desire to equivalent the different. and, remember right here: you may upload, subtract, multiply, take sq. roots, sq. , exchange signs and indicators(+to-)(-to plus) on one area of an equation applying any value and the equation will proceed to be stunning as long as YOU DO the suitable comparable element TO the different area applying the suitable comparable VALUES. occasion: one million/35 X =20; We multiply bothe facets with the help of 35 to get : 35/35 X=35x 20; X=seven-hundred. this could be a straightforward one ; besides the fact that, all of them artwork an identical way. Take value. good success.

You are way more likey to be hit by lightning twice or be eaten by army ants than becoming an astronaut. There just aren't very many of them and far too many people who want it.

Or, just sit your lazy butt down and wait until the future when space technology will be cheaper.
Not that I'm telling you to, just a suggestion.
