OK, first, about a quadrillion diapers!

I hope you will have a baby shower and can register at a store for desired gifts. But here are a few things I found necessary.

Baby bag
Bottles- even if you are nursing you will want to have a bottle occasionally if you are out and about.
On that note, nursing pads that fit in your bra.
Crib
bumper pad for crib
changing table
baby bath products and a baby tub
warm clothes- usually you buy a size that is double the age, so a 6 month old baby may wear 12 months size.
A high quality car seat
Baby swing
pacifiers
thermometer, suction syringe for nose if needed.. and if your baby has a cold and it is the middle of the night then it will come in handy
receiving blankets
a great camara and film
dvd recorder
soft chewing toys
high chair
outlet covers/safety gate
A baby scrap book

oh, did I mention diapers????

Congrats!

i had my first child at 17 and let me tell you i only had the necessities.
onesies and socks
car seat and stroller.....the car seat can also be used as a chair when the baby is older to eat out of if a high chair is too expensive.
a jacket and hat
diapers and wipes
bibs
binki aka pacifier
toys for her they have cheap ones at walmart and even toys r us
bra pads
blankets
i know theres lots more but these were the things i used the most and really only had. i breastfed and was Lucky enough to be able to bring her with me to school and work so i could feed her there. if you are going to breastfeed make sure you buy a pump because you will need it after the first few days home. then you can save it and hopefully give it to your baby later on when you need a break .there are so many things out nowadays its crazy. my other children have been lucky enough to get all the other things that aren't necessary good luck and congrats

butt paste and lots of it. Also get a good stock of formula. I suggest the liquid not the powder stuff. The powder formula gave my kid bad stomach aches (gas) and the liquid is so much easier to fix @ 3:00 in the am

Johnson & Johnson cornstarch baby powder with aloe(we have had NO major diaper rash AND it comes out more evenly)
