i am a huge cardinals fan, so obviously i am a little biased, but i do see many reasons why they very easily could and should repeat. at the beginning of spring, i must say that i was a little worried. i did not know how wainwright, reyes, and looper would pan out. so far this spring all of the cardinals starters have been incredible! as far as i know, before sunday (reyes allowed 5 runs) there has not been another outing by a cardinals starter where they allowed more than 2 runs! wainwright has a 0.98 spring ERA, and i think he will be amazing! dave duncan (the cardinals pitching coach) gets the most out of the cardinals pitchers, and i think that it is even safe to say that the cardinals rotation will be even better this year! carpenter is going to contend for the cy young, and will probably win it this year. kip wells is even a nice fit, and if he doesnt go too long in his outings, and the cards dont try to stretch him and make him do too much, i think he will do great. the cardinals offense will be better too because pujols is always amazing, and gets better every year. rolen is back and will be healthy this year, and i could easily see duncan hitting 30 - 40 homers this year because he will get more at bats and more playing time. i think he wont be as much of a liability in the outfield because he has worked so hard on his defense this offseason. the bullpen will be great again, and this year izzy (isringhausen) will be healthy. overall, i think the cards didnt lose anything they couldnt make up for...and they gained major talent in unleashing reyes and wainwright, giving them the opportunity to start and become great! with the experience they gained last year (reyes was a beast in game 1 of the world series, and that was as a rookie!!!)...and wainwright was the postseason closer and saved the biggest game of his life in the game 5 win - and he was a rookie too! they will account for 20-30 wins...dont be surprised if both of them win 15 or more! GO CARDS!!!

Of course the Cardinals have a chance to repeat.
No new pitchers? Wainwright and Reyes will be huge breakout stars this year. Carpenter will be a Cy young frontrunner. Kip Wells will fill in nicely. I am a little worried about how Looper will fit in (if at all).
Honestly last year the Cardinals rotation looked like this... Carpenter, Marquis, Suppan, Weaver, and Reyes. Once you get to the playoffs anything can happen.
Rolen, Edmonds, Encarnacion were all injured last year. Rolen will be healthy this year, hopefully Edmonds and Encarnacion rehab from their injuries. Duncan won't be such a risk defensively in the outfield this year, though his bat will make up for any mistakes. Molina is showing some skills at the plate finally.
The Cardinals are the best in the Central. The Cubs have a nice offense if they stay healthy but their pitching isn't great. How long are they going to hold out for Wood and Prior?
This is how I see the Central division panning out...
1. Cardinals (Pujols, Carpenter, Rolen, Wainwright, Reyes...plus a stellar defense)
2. Brewers (Young team that could contend)
3. Cubs (Nice offense but Marquis and Lilly?)
4. Astros (No Clemens = No chance)
5. Reds (Arroyo and Harang can't carry the team)
6. Pirates (They are the Pirates)

i dont think so, the NL central is still very weak but the Cubs and Brewers have gotten a lot better and the Pirates have gotten modestly better. The reds are still the reds, they need more pitching but i can see them being a 500 team at least because their offense is very good. 83 wins wont win the division again

I think they can win it with their offense, but i think they wont because of their pitching but look at last year no one knows what can happen.
