I only know the first four books on your list.
I would stick with picking any three of the first four. Those are classics of world literature and you're more likely to run into other people who have read those than the other books on your list.

Call Of The Wild, Tom Sawyer, Beowulf - These three are classics that almost everyone has read. They are good for conversation as well as diverse in subject matter and writing style. Also, Tom Sawyer has some American historic value, and Beowulf has European historic value and is often used in college level courses as a primary writing sample from the Anglo-Saxon period in England.
The Diary of Anne Frank has good historic value and is a different style of writing as well. It would be just as good a pick as Call of the Wild.

Well, I've read The Diary ofAnne Frank and discussed Beowulf in class. Anne Frank is a nice read because it depicts the life of 14 (I think) yr old Anne during the World War 2. And i'd recommend Beowulf if and only if you're a patient reader because first, it's a very, very long poem and second, i found it dull.
Sorry if i'm not much of help...

1) Beowulf. It is an old hero's ballad that is very good. A young man out to save his people from ferocious monsters and a firey dragon. It shows what the Early euopean clans thought of bravery and vallar.
2) Diary of Anne frank. It is a real diary of a yougn girl during World War two in hidding. Gives a look at how the Franks lived and survived in a time when they were sought after. True it has no plot, but the diary is such a magnificent peice of writing. God bless the Frank family.
3) The true Confession sof CHarlotte Doyle. Great book by Avi. Filled iwth Adventure, a proper girl trying to survive on a ship. It is in a way a comming of age story, and she recognizes where she truely belongs. Lots of adventure and suspense. really good.
Your welcome and God bless you.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!

Hard Choice! Okay....
1. The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle. A wonderful book, it sound as if it really was written by an well-educated and proper young girl of the era. It portrays the times and especially life on a tall ship. The character development of Charlotte herself was so well done that I (who had a temperament much like my own) felt that I would have behaved exactly as she did, if I had been in her place. Not every thirteen year old girl has worked as a seaman, joined a mutiny, and been convicted of murder, and become captain of a ship. Charlotte is such a girl.
Beowulf. This is just a great story, with great adventures, great monsters, and lots of mead. There is a great new translation by Seamus Heaney.
The Diary of Anne Frank. A piece of history. The diary of a teenage Jewish girl and her family, in hiding from the Nazis.

You didn't indicate your age ... but here goes ...
I'd encourage the following to be read:
- The Diary of Anne Frank ... historical, autobiographical, insight into the life of a young person who is not only going through puberty but going through a war
- Call of the Wild ... an unforgettable and well known book. It's always good to read something that others know!
- Tom Sawyer ... interesting life lessons played out in the life of a young boy.
Why did you select the ones you did? And oh yes, you didn't let us know if you're male or female 'cause that would have helped me better respond.
Bottom line - doesn't matter which book you read as long as you're reading ... and enjoying the book! Have fun. ;-)

I would pick Anne Frank, Call of the Wild and Tom Sawyer. By all means avoid Beowulf if you can. Pax - C.
