You still have to have a service provider

Generally all laptops can connect to the internet either with a cable modem, dial-up modem or a wireless wi-fi adapter. Most newer laptops will have a wireless wi-fi adapter built in which will allow you to connect to any unsecure wireless networks in your area which is free. If not, you can buy a wi-fi adapter for your laptop for about $40 or so. Connection using a cable modem or dial-up modem will however require a subscription with an internet provider such as Verizon, AOL or Time Warner Cable.

you would have to pay extra if you want it in your house. If you don't want to pay for in home internet. You could also go to your cell phone provider and get a anywhere broadband network card. Try and go to the place where you have your current contract with because you will get it at a cheaper rate. It will be a monthly fee of course.

You will however be able to go to places like Panera, Starbucks, and anwhere else that is a WiFi hotspot (free internet). Because you have a built in 802.11G wireless internet card.

You still have to pay for internet but you should first get a wireless router like I have and then you can take your laptop anywhere in your house.
