I have an older PC in my house its about 5 years old, not that old, but the problem was that everyone who came over would use it, my little cousin who lives with me would mess around with it...
nobody uses it anymore, but now its all screwed up, a bunch of viruses, it doesn't have sound and it won't even go online.

I want to restore the original windows xp settings and files,
I don't care about any saved data or software that it might still have.

its a premio, with windows xp

i need someone to tell me what i need, any software/hardware
and what i have to do.
if you need more info e-mail me at deserst0rm@yahoo.com

thank you

That's a tall order my friend....

If you can find the old XP disks you can start from there. Format the HD and then reinstall XP from scratch. Hopefully the hardware is still OK and the OS will load properly. You should be able to use Internet Explorer to get on line and download all the Service Packs from Msoft.

Once that is accomplished you can go online again and download the applications that you'll need. You can get free office applications from http://www.openoffice.org; antivirus from AVG, and good apps from Google.

You can use it as a learning tool, but I doubt that a 5 year old computer can really be used with modern apps. Your RAM and HD will be too small for most things you want to use other than the browser.

You may learn a few things by trying though. And maybe it would last you until the quad core Intel chips are released this summer.

Good luck!

Put the Windows CD in, and go into the bios to get it to boot off the CD drive, and follow the prompts. Its that easy. Delete all the data, new partition and new operating system. Then do all of the patches and updates.
