I am over 4 months postpartum with my second baby. I recently started having severe postpartum contractions again, and I've heard these should go away around 6 weeks postpartum!
If this matters, I am exclusively nursing and haven't gotten my period again yet.
Should I be worried? Thanks for your input...

sometimes when you are nursing you won't get your period for six months ( but beware you still can get pregnant) and when you nurse the contraction are just your stomach shrinking so don't worry it's a good thing

Well, you need to rule out pregnancy, even though you just had the baby awhile ago. Nursing does not prevent pregnancy. If you havent' had a period yet then make an appt with your doc in the next couple days and she/he may want to do a preg test to rule that out, then they can talk to you about the cramping you are having.

Usually the worst of it is in the first week after delivering while your uterus is shrinking again. I don't think you should be nervous, but do call and get checked out. Sometimes your hormones can really be out of whack after all you've been through.
Congrats on your new baby!

Maybe you are referring to post partum after pains and when you breastfeed normally your uterus contracts. There is nothing to worry about.
