You might be flustered to help with a middle schooler's homework but sometimes being a parent requires intense concentration on these sorts of things. If you want your kid to do well in school, you should encourage them to be persistant in learning their vocabulary words. It might be an optimistic view that a child can do her own homework when she's so defiant to any sort of athourity but she will grow out of this sort of anatagonism when she discovers how much better her future will be if she studies well now. You wouldn't want to incriminate her at school by having her show the teacher someone else's work. Just sit her down with a dictionary and have her do some legitimate work. You don't want studying to be an idiosyncracy for your daugher. It's not like her hand will get contorted just because she is holding pencil to paper for more than 10 minutes.

Get the dictionary out and get to work. Take responsibility for your own education. This is your assignment, not ours.
