....since we torture and imprison enemies without charge, then we must allow them to do this, too. We cannot do anything about it.

You bring up a very good point. This was what Senator McCain warned about- that torturing our prisoners would lead to the torture of our captured soldiers.

There is no excuse for torture, but the Iranians have as much right to torture as we do. Quid pro quo.

Iran is going to do what ever they want to with the British soldiers. They (the Brits) were taken in international waters. A zodiac boat is no match for a gun boat. No one is at war with Iran. So there is no reason for Iran to torture the Brits. Should they do so they loose the moral high ground they are trying to take for capturing them in the first place. The Brits. won't stand for this for too long. They really don't need our help to handle this. Although the US will back their play no matter what it is. As we should. Iran must think that the Brits. won't do anything with out the US's blessing. That's where they are wrong. The Brits. did'nt need anyones help in the Faulkens and they did just fine.

Well, there's definitely a difference here.

While torture has (and likely is) been inflicted on prisoners in the care of the United States, this is more a direct result of the incompetence and morally bankrupt nature of our current administration, and the individual indiscretion of the perpetrators. It is by no means endemic to American democracy and goes against its ideology.

In a country like Iran - while Iranians themselves are not endemically evil and prone to torture - the Islamists and extremists (the mullahs in the governing council, and the supreme ayatollah) that are a part of their convoluted republican system are, in fact, perfectly capable of supporting torture as a matter of course.

We do not torture anyone as a rule. A few of our people got out of hand and they have been dealt with. No one should torture anyone during wartime or otherwise. Your question almost sounds as though you want that to happen. I pray that that thought is not in your heart and mind.

You will allow if you cannot do anything about that. If you can you must do it. No body allows anything that hurts him unless he has no option to stop others. If we can stop torture on us, we should stop that irrespective of whether we tortured some one or not.

The answer of course is No. They are as much allowed to do it as the United States or any other country is.

Of course it's done.

Everytime it does happen, it weakens us as a species. It's continuation will not allow humans to evolve to their next intellectual or spiritual level.

Where do you get your information from, a comic book? The USA doesn't torture people. How can you say that they would be justified in using torture, are you mad?

The USA doesn't torture people! There are those that may get out of line and do something like that, but when caught, they are dealt with accordingly. If it is US policy, then where's the link?

You are far out there, huh? You have several outrageous accusations but provide no supporting links or proof.
