how can a white man be racist against whites? i guess ive heard crazier things but i cant understand it comeing from such an intellegent man

Whites and Asians already have high graduation rates from colleges and universities, so I am assuming he's trying to help the less fortunate groups reach a proportionate equilibrium.
Gate's educational fund does support other ventures that provide education for any group no matter the race.

Yes, if those are the terms of his grant then he is a racist.
I guy (Michael Eric Dyson) on the Colbert Report a few weeks ago (3/13/07) had a great explanation about racism. To paraphrase he said that if we as individuals have prejudice regarding race we are simply bigots. But we become racists when we take part in support or create institutions that make judgments based upon race as a criteria. It was a good interview, as most tend to be on Comedy Central.
