I usually curl my lashes first then I just apply the mascara to my upper lashes. I usually put 2 or 3 coats depending on the look I'm going for. I rarely put mascara on my bottom lashes, but if I do, I put a light coat. Practice until you get the look you want.

swivle it around in the bottle ( dont pump or you will get air in the tube)
curl them in two places with a lash curler.

wiggle the mascara in to the base of your top lashes then slowly wiggle it to the end. One coat is usualy good enough.
Mascara on the top lashes is enough for day time...for evening use a tiny make up brush and paint just a dab of mascara on the bottom lashes.
mascara should be your very last step...and wait till it dries if you have to fix it.

You just start by the roots and zig-zag the brush out. Then if you want them longer, when the first coat is dried, apply a second coat but start in the middle of your eyelashes.

If you wish to look interesting, then apply with an appreciation of understatement.

If you're looking for lots of quickie sex, then feel free to apply with a 3"paintbrush from Sherwin-Williams....
