I don't quite get with the new intel viiv technology of what's the use of it? Is it built for entertainment purposes?

And what is the latest processor today? quad core?

I going to use intel viiv and win vista premium for my new PC, but not sure whether they are fit for both programming and entertainment?

These are the specs of what I'm planning to buy for my new PC:

*Dimension E520 Viiv Pentium D 925 Processor Dual Core (3.00Ghz, 800Mhz FSB, 2x2MB cache) 1
*Memory Dual Channel 2048MB (2x1024) 533MHz DDR2 1
*Media Card Reader 13-in-1 Internal 1
*Hard Drive 250GB Serial ATA II 7200Rpm 1
*DVD+/-RW (read/write) 16x 1
*FP/BL - UK/Irish Wide Flat Panel E207WFP 20" (TCO99) Value (DVI-D) Black 1
*Video card ATI Radeon X1300 Pro 256MB DVI/VGA output with 1xS-Video Output 1
*Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme - VISTA ONLY 1
*UK/Irish Speakers External Dell 5650 Midnight Grey+Subwoofer & 4 satellites (100W) 1
*English Windows Vista Home Premium 1
*And a whole bunch of softwares and discounts..

Is this a good deal? I only have about £900 budget. Please post here if you have a better suggestion.

As far as I can gather, intel viiv is not a new chip, just some new multimedia handling bologna.

Don't know how much 900 whatever's are in dollars.
But here's what I do know...Windows Vista at a minimum use's close to 512mb/s of ram. Which means to use your computer optimally you need 1 gig of ram with vista. So make sure it has 1 gig atleast of ram. Also...make sure you have a moderate/good video card...windows is very visuallly demanding. But thats not sooo important. I've seen vista and don't like it...basically because it has poor backward compatibility. So programs you use now may not work with vista. Also...I know that peripherals arn't widely supported...e.g. printers, webcams. So if it were me and I was buying this system I would get windows XP...or dual boot or something.

I would just buy the parts myself and put'em together.
