I tried asking in general and it won't work.

You can come up with a professional looking table stating the advantages of getting a skateboard and how you will not abuse usage of it. Parents are known to take you more seriously when you show acts of responsbility.
Of course, (when all fails) you can always try to "bribe" them with a better test grade(:

Persevere but be gentle they may be worried about injuries most parents are ! Become more responsible be really helpful but not so that you become a pain underfoot . Exercise a lot so that your muscles become developed and are ready to cope if you are successful . Perhaps you could try your hand at cooking. Just don't over do it ! Meanwhile you could start saving doing extra jobs as a really good board can be pricey. Find literature on techniques and study up on the subject and on the safety . Talk about it try to find out what they feel and think. You can always use it as a learning experience for the future so good luck and above all else be gentle they are only human.

Well, make sure your parents really want one first. Maybe they are not cut out for skateboarding.

Tell your parents that you will wear a helmet and pads at all times, while riding.

Just tell them the positive things like I wont stay home as much and bother you, stuff like that.

Just go buy a cheap one at wal-mart. They're less than $10 i think.
