Sorry, but Affirmative Action has nothing to do with ethnic percentages, nor does it cause reverse discrimination.

J is absolutely right. Affirmative Action simply means to level the playing field - specifically it means to advertise jobs to a broader audience and to make the application process more accessible to women and minorities.

No one is selecting minorities over a more qualified non-minorities. That would be potential violation of Title VII (or Title IX).

The best way I have heard affirmative action explained to me is that affirmative action isn't what gets anyone admitted into college or a job. Affirmative action gets everyone to the same starting point. Everyone starts at the same point and their qualifications get the recognized by the selection committee.

nicely, i could think of that socioeconomic is larger than race because of the fact being undesirable is the genuine handicap. regrettably, racial discrimination nevertheless exists and we would want the present affirmative action. the different situation with affirmative action is that, in my view, does not create equality in any respect. And is arbitrary too. i could ideally want some thing that reward truly skill and not race or how lots funds you had. we don't stay in a perfect international nonetheless.

How is it fair to punish someone who made a high score and not admit him because of his race? It may be politically correct to call this reverse discrimination but lets face the fact IT IS DISCRIMINATION!

Who is going to apologize to the decedents of these students today who are being deprived admission to college because of discrimination?

When are we going to put the slavery issue behind us? The Civil war has been over for 142 years. Are any slave or slave owners left? No one alive had anything to do with the slavery issue from either side. It is time to drop it.

Lets make this college a leader in the struggle for civil rights. Lets demand that admission be gained by academic excellence only.
