It all depends on what you want to use it for.

If you want a laptop that does just word processor, Internet surfing, and Emailing then getting a 15.4" screen would probably fit you. It also has to do with how well you can see.

I would not suggest anything below 15.4" due to the fact that most of the LCD backings are very flimsy and break quickly on the 14.1" and the 13.3".

If you are into either games, movies, or business presentations 15.4" screens will give you what you want. However if you would like a very sharp picture a lot of higher mid range laptops with 17" or greater size LCDs will, depending on the company, can produce 1080i HD picture on your laptop and/or run at very high resolutions that will give you more desktop space and better quality picture.

Also a last thing to think about is that a screen that is huge that runs at a low resolution is not as good and has in essence has less desktop space then a smaller screen with a very high resolution. So a 15.4" screen that can reach 1440×900 is better then a 17" screen that can only reach 1024x768.

Depends on how you use it. For instance, I own 2:
A 17 inch: Loaded with everything I need to live(games, TV, etc)
A 13.3 inch: I take it everywhere, but it only has MS Office on it...

Average user will get a 14.1/15.4

It relies how a lot you are inclined to pay and what you are going to run on it -- the difficult force is fairly small, Windows ninety eight is buggy, and, with best 128 MB of ram you can be ready decades for methods to load. It might prob be good enough for elementary web and phrase processing. I would not pay greater than $one hundred to $2 hundred for it (relying at the enterprise).

Hi. If you plan on carrying it much the smaller sizes will make it lighter and less bulky. If it's a substitute for a desktop, then 17 " definitely.
