Location, Location, Location. I also have centralized automatic sprinklers, smoke alarms, solid doors with combination locks, rather than keyed locks, triple-pained windows, live on the third floor, have two balcanies, Cancel my newspaper subscriptions while I am gone out of state, DON'T SMOKE, and would not miss very much, if anything I had was stolen.
I'd be interested in meeting the person (s) that took the effort to get into my third-floor condo to take whatever they found. As a male, I have no fear of a burglar taking advantage of me, but would sort of like the thrill of putting up a fight like none other in my life. Would be interesting to see just how many cans of "*** whoop" I'd have to open to walk away the victor.
I do not look like the sort of "easy target" that pricks like to target, and I know that I fear very little, loaded guns, pointed directly at me, being one of them. I was actually a sharpshooter in the U.S. Army, and I know what a bullet can do to a human body. So, never take a knife to a gun fight!
The main thing I do in addition to the above, is to insure my place for it's full replacement value. That means that when I put in a new Marble floor, and hard-wood flooring, and upgrade a bathroom, I call my insurance man to be sure that I don't have to start all over again in the event of a fire.

Fire extinguishers and smoke/heat detectors. Closed-circuit television surveillance. Alternative power sources. Ham radio. Good locks and deadbolts for the doors, and secured windows. And a rep in the neighborhood as a kill-crazed veteran...

Uh, I know I have locks on the door. Think I have a fire extiguisher under the sink. That's about it, unless you count anti-virus software, since I'm part of the home and don't want information stolen.

The only thing i have to protect my house is GOD.Don't get me wrong I've had other stuff like a security alarm system but that didn't work i still got rob.I had a dog and i still got rob. But once i got closer to GOD and form that personal relationship with him he help me realize that nothing on earth that's made by man is not made to last forever. But his love is FOREVER.
