It could but why would you want to? Most 64 bit OS's are buggy with crap for driver support. Not enough of a following for developers to put resources into. There are some OK 64 bit versions of LINUX but again you may wind up with poor driver support depending on your specific hardware. Unless you consider yourself hardcore it is probably not worth the effort to the average user.

What processor are we talking about ? further: The Pentium D comprise the EMT64 preparation set, so the processor is able to run sixty 4 bit applications. So certain, that's going to artwork.

that is the idea behind the athlon 64. it is a 64bit processor. so yes it can run it.

Definitely. I have that same processor running Windows XP 64bit edition.
You should have no problems other than incompatible drivers and such.
