When the doctors/studies say babies can survive outside the womb as early as 24 weeks, does this mean 24 weeks from your last period or from your conception date? I'm guessing probably conception, but nobody seems to estimate through conception age anymore.

It's as earlier as 21 weeks, but like anything it's taken from your conception date if it's accurate. If it's from your period, it can be off by as much as 4 weeks!

It's hard to estimate conception, even if the parents know their sexual habits. It's easier for the doctor to go from the first day of the last period. As the fetus grows, doctors can pinpoint the conception date easier.

from the LMP. The ultra sound can give you a new due date though and you can go by that. But when doctors say 24 weeks, they mean from the LMP or from the ultrasound due date. Not from conception.. no one really knows when that is

I keep in mind that feeling. I had 3 miscarriages in the previous i grew to become into blessed with my son 3 months in the past. i grew to become into terrified the excellent way in the process the being pregnant. fortuitously after 12 weeks the olds of miscarriage flow way down. It nonetheless would not help with the nerves and the memories. in case you're somewhat worried, i might purely flow to the emergency room. they might desire to nonetheless verify you out. they might no longer save you in the event that they are in a position to't locate something. i do no longer think of which you will possibly even might desire to lie, purely tell them what you're feeling and flow. i comprehend which you will no longer have the flexibility to take a seat back till somebody has considered you. the ideal element which you're able to do on your son is to be calm and comfortable, so i might purely flow and make your self sense extra ideal. Now, purely to place your innovations comfortable, I keep in mind those pre-miscarriage thoughts as properly, and each so often they're such as the pains that I felt whilst pregnant. It would not unavoidably propose that something is misguided. good success! i'm going to be questioning of you!

It means the 24th week of gestation, which dates from conception. Those tiny ones often have an exceptionally difficult time of it, and all too often the heroic and very expensive efforts of the dedicated intensive care nursery staff are for naught.

My son was born at 29 weeks; two pounds, fourteen ounces and he's now ten and as healthy as they come. I don't know if this helps but I brought him home two months before his due date! Maybe I didn't quite understand your question but all I know is I was so shocked the first time I saw him, Transluscent tongue, no finger or toenails.....scared the bejesus outta me.....
