But I only plan to keep one. Which one (Manila Pen, Shangrila Ortigas and Intercon) should I keep? Please base your answers from your personal experiences if possible. Thank you!

If you want your money and experience to come a long way for this trip....be practical.

Manila Pen and Shang are a bit pricey for a room. You will only need a bath, a comfortable sleep, and use of amenities. Intercon, so-so but old and needed maintenance. From your list I would prefer Shangri-la.

But I encourage you to check availability and rates from Mandarin Oriental and New World Renaissance. If you want something near the restos and gimmick places New World is a good location. The malls around the area are very accessible -- lined-up one after another. Mandarin, well I like having breakfast there. Rooms are also very spacious if you are bringing work with you.

I am a doctor and had the opportunity to check in these hotels for free courtesy of the drug companies.

I think you missed out Makati Shangrila! There is Shangrila Ortigas and Makati Shangrila.

Shangrila Ortigas is at the heart of Edsa, the major street from Pasay, Makati to Quezon City. With less than 3 minute walk to Shangrila Mall, there is a shortcut there on the 5th floor, if I am not mistaken going to the MRT, the Metrorail Transit, where you can have a round trip from Pasay City to North Edsa. You can go down Ayala station and explore the malls in Ayala like Glorietta 1-4, Greenbelt! You can also go down North Edsa and explore SM North Edsa or you can just walk down SM Megamall which is just walking distance from your hotel. This is one of the largest mall in the Philippines so far. There is another alternative, going to Podium. People you will meet in the SM Megamall will be from Class BC crowds.

Makati Shangrila on the other hand is at the heart of the Makati Shopping Malls. You can enjoy the nightlife here and walk home right at your doorstep. Makati people on the other hand belongs to the Class A crowd. Though you will meet also Class B and C. I enjoy the more serene atmostphere here compared to Megamall which makes me dizzy literally because of too much people around and the fact that you have to go through buildings A and B of Megamall.

Manila Peninsula is also one of the best hotels in town. How I love its lounge and the nice classical music on the 2nd floor. However, riding a cab here is hotel rate unlike the 2 in which you get cabs easily and not hotel rates. You will still have to cross the street to go to the heart of the malls!

Intercontinental has also the same scenario as the Shangrila Ortigas! It is right at the heart of Edsa and the most accessible to all forms of transportation. It is just besides SM
( Shoemart) Makati and just across Rustans and within walking distance of both Makati Shangrila and Manila Peninsula. It is an older hotel but renovated in the late 90's.

I cant comment on the breakfast of Interncon because we had it served in our room instead of the usual buffet because we were in a hurry that time but all these hotels have free buffet breakfast with it unless there is an option to delete the breakfast which would definitely make it cheaper!

I definitely would say that our hotels are the best. I had been to the hotels in other countries like Hongkong and the USA but definitely Philippine touch is different! Filipinos are more polite and more hospitable.

Why limit yourself to these three hotels?

There are a ton more accommodation providers out there, and some of them are equal to the popular brands without being overly expensive. It's okay if a hotel lets you experience the Filipino culture but then again, you actually only need to go out for that!

If you need a hotel in Makati, you can go condotel! And Asian Mansion is a great choice. If in Ortigas, you should definitely try Astoria Plaza and Discovery. If you're ready to spend on your initial hotel choices you should definitely consider these other three - not where half of your room charges will be spent just for the extras or 'ambiance' that you may not necessarily require.

These three are great, but I believe that if you are looking for a more versatile hotel, whether you are a TOURIST or on a BUSINESS TRIP, there's no place better than Shangri-La. At Shangri-La, you can feel the hospitality and the colorful traditions of Asians, and even if you are on a business trip, there's no other more relaxing and cool ambiance than Shang. And another advantage is Shangri-La is always near the mall and business centers which should be convenient for you. So if you are planning to pick which one, anywhere in Asia, choose Shangri-La.

of those on your record, i could elect Planet Hollywood or Treasure Island, widely speaking for their places. Stratosphere is an ok place, yet has a terrible region - not close to something, and in a close-by that gets seedy at night. Tropicana is high-quality - the region is first rate and it grew to become into presently reworked. substantial street and Hilton are not on the strip. Planet Hollywood is a huge occasion hotel, and has a distinctly stable south-substantial region on the strip. you would be an worry-free walk to many different hotels, with a number of different eating and entertainment innovations. Treasure Island has a relaxing pirate subject matter and additionally has a tendency to attraction to a number of adolescents. It has a stable north-substantial region on the strip, very close to the distinctive greater golf equipment on the strip.

All three are okay. The question is, what area do you intend to spend more time in... Choose the hotel closest and most accessible in terms of transport to most of your friends, appointments and the places you want to go to, especially the places where you would like to shop, for practical reasons.

I think it really depends on what you are doing in Manila, and where you will be doing it. If you are on holiday, I would suggest none of them, but if you areon business - which one is nearer to where your meetings are??
