Pretend that you are a reporter or photojournalist. Your editor has given you a new assignment. She wants you to write a short, two to three paragraph article about the militarization of public space in New York City. In the article, you should document this phenomenon in journalistic fashion. Pick a building, park, street corner, etc. that you think best exemplifies the militarization of public space in New York and describe it in detail for the readership. Explain to your readers how architectural design, surveillance technology and policing discourage people from gaining free, unfettered access to what should be public places. The really industrious among you can surf the Internet for digital examples of “fortress” architecture, or you can go out and take some digital photographs.

Actually, it is a homework question but I was just trying to get people to name any place in NYC that is militarized in some ways. By militarized I mean, fences, motion detectors, and/or police surveillance?

This sounds quite suspiciously like a school assignment which you should do for yourself.
