White or Ivory?

Between your two choices, Ivory.

White is crisp, but also looks like average computer paper which is kind of cheap looking. Ivory isn't so stark and looks more elegant and professional.

Personally I use the resume paper that any stationary store or even wal-mart carries. It is a little thicker than average computer paper and looks nice, they also have a wider variety of colors. I use a pale pink at times. Just don't go to funky if it is a serious job.

Good luck

Ivory (at least in my opinion). It stands out a bit, but isn't nearly as blinding as some other colors people would choose...

White. Without question. The best you can afford.
It is crisp, clean, easy to read and provides the best contrast.
