He wasn't really interested in you for anything deeper than the surface if he left you after he found out your age. He most likely left you cause he's afraid to have sex with you until you're of age. Hate to say it but that's common. You'll find somebody who doesn't give a hoot about age and laws if they really enjoy you.
FYI- The only way a somebody can go to jail for being with a younger person is if they're sexually active and the younger person's parents press charges on the older person. It sounds to me like your parents are pretty open..so hang in there and wait for the guy who treats you like gold regardless of what the world says he's allowed to do.

17 year old girls should NOT be dating 21-22 year old boys. Those 5 years are BIG years. Date people in high school. Wait a couple of years to date people that age. It will greatly benefit you and protect you from being used.

Because you are still a teenager, and have a long way to go to mature yet. Your brain isn't even fully developed til you are in your mid-20s! A guy likes a partner to be a WOMAN, one who is getting advanced education, starts her career, is out working on her own... and a girl just doesn't cut it.
Don't worry, you'll find someone nearer your age.
And, as for your parents' age difference - it doesn't matter so much when you will be 24 and a guy is 30. You just have to get over that maturity hump.

I suppose your age does not make a difference but there might be people who think that there is. Maybe they regard 17 as too young but 21 is just perfect like you can go to clubs and other establishments. So don't worry about that, you can meet other guys later when you are older. You will get there soon.

he doesn't want to go to jail; there is usually a big difference in maturity levels of someone in high school and someone in their second or third year of college....it's a matter of timing; 4 or 6 years isn't that much if you are talking about 22 and 26 or 24 and 30.....
You can't legally go to a bar with him either.....not cool once you are 21;

If you're under 18 you're probably jailbait,or at least he thinks you are. Plus,you're probably still in high school,which is sort of alienating when you're 22. Age matters less the older you get. My boyfriend is 48; I'm 24!

i dont think age matters. and i dont understand why people say it does. its just a number. I mean think about this Retarded people dont understand that 18 is when your an adult. they think its just a number litteraly. Just like age is just a number. People make big deals out of everything now and days and i personally think they just need to get over them selves. dont worry about what people say just do what u think is right in your heart
