I have smoked for about 40 years, My last visit to the old doc, he said quit now, I mean right now.Your lungs exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide. Let me put it this way your lungs are like a cluster of grapes, and when coated with tar from smoking you decrease the area of witch you exchange the two. Wheezing starts, because you can't get enough air into your body and blood stream. You start feeling tired all the time, the next step is breathing threw a oxygen mask to get enough in your body.Suicide, yes it is. but do we listen, no we don't, because it's a slow death and we have plenty of time to enjoy smoking before we find out were in trouble.

Isn't drinking a gradual suicide? I gave up 6 weeks ago, haven't touched one since. But I do have close friends who smoke. My 2 best mates smoke loads...I have tried getting them to stop, but, you can't. When you're a smoker it's all about the satisfaction of getting a hit really. It's a totally different mind set tbh. You can't fully understand until you've been there and done that.

NO i don't think so , suicide is the deliberate act of taking your life most people that smoke don't' want to die nor would they kill themselves , Death would be in most peoples future with ciggs but to say that its com minting suicide is a bit far. Just because they think or know that it might in their case kill them ( which they may be thinking that they might be the exception) i don't think people are trying to kill themselves by smoking if that were the case i think there are faster and less painful ways that people do that

Yes I have had friends who knew that smoking was killing them and yet they still smoked and they died horrible deaths! I have some friends who aren't sick yet,and they know they more than likely will die from a smoking related death and they still smoke. So in answering your question yes it is a slow suicide!

It's not any worse than all that junk food and fast food people are stuffing in their mouths. Aren't those people committing suicide also? Obesity is one of this nations top killers. Everybody can see the effects on a body.

depends on the context. if you're talking about an adult who decides to start smoking because of pain she's going through, and you're asking if that means she is trying to kill herself or has serious problems, than no. if you are asking if smoking can kill you, than yes. people can engage in risky behavior without being suicidal. they could be, for example, just in denial about the risk factors. or even unaware of the risk factors.

These days everyone needs instant satisfaction on things they do. If they're stressed out, smoking calms them down right away. And then they depend on that instant feeling as a crutch in the future...

I think it is and I don't understand why people who know the dangers of smoking do not stop. I call it, "the slow suicide".
