Will it take the Republican party time to recover from this administration as it did after Nixon?

It seems to be the judgement of the Republicans, especially in the last two years, that he has done more harm, and I'm not sure there is any good to compare it to. And voters have too short a memory to go back the full six and examine that.

Since Republicans don't like what the President has done, they are hard at work distancing themselves to reduce personal damage. The party did not suffer much at the presidential level after Nixon. What people appreciated about Ford was that nothing really happened during his administration. The knock on him was that he was so partisan he would not help out a blue state like New York in NYC's fiscal crisis. I think he lost the Ford-Carter race all by himself. Then of course, Carter was a one-term president before two-term Reagan came in, followed by Bush, H.W. So it is hard to make the case that the Republican party suffered in that sense. Generally, people did not trust government for a long time after Watergate, and that is why they tended to split power between the White House and Congress.

If the red end of the spectrum is smart, they will back a moderate Republican, vote for him, and everything will be fine (he will win or lose without the taint). If they choose a radical conservative or sit home while the moderate runs, it goes to Democrats by default, and not so much Bush's fault.

it is a extraordinarily ineffective analysis. well being care may no longer go into result till 2013 yet when it passes human beings will study about it that very similar day. as well, Obama is not only failing on well being care. The stimulus failed, the GM bailout failed, funds for Clunkers failed, we are nonetheless in a warfare he promised to end, unemployment has doubled, the deficit has septupled, he's searching law enforcement officials "stupid" and calling his warring parties "racist," his Congress has a 12% approval score, and he now no longer has the "novelty" of being the first black to run for president. you're also assuming that the business gadget could have recovered by technique of 2012. Seeing as how taxes will go up in 2010, inflation will commence to skyrocket, and $787 BILLION in stimulus hasn't budged the marketplace one inch, why interior the international could you imagine the business gadget could commence recuperating in time? Sorry, chum. Obama is a one-termer.
