Why would a Christian be forced to lie about their loved one dying soon? What would be the reasons?

I saw a drama on tv about these doctors who lied to their dying boss about him having severe deathly cancer in order to keep him from shock. In that case, I understand why they lied.

However, for someone who's in completely normal condition until death, why can't that person live out his life in full knowledge of his dying condition? What would cause his Christian loved ones to lie about the dying?

WHAT would cause it? What could be the reasons? I wonder this, because it's mind-boggling and cruel.

Man, I don't know. We try to spare our loved ones pain and I suppose the reasoning would be that they would be afraid the person would just give up or spend the rest of his/her life being sad and afraid of dying. My grandma is 93 and we have never once lied to her about her condition at the time. I'm sure when it comes time to let her know the end is near, we will do so with love and respect.

Christian or not, it’s wrong to lie no matter of what and for a doctor to lie to their patient is just wrong. A person should not lie to their dying love ones, but instead they should spent time with them and enjoy the short time their have together.

I don't see the reason of anyone, Christian or not lying to a loved one about dying unless they were trying to spare their feelings. But still I'd be truthful.

To me it seems like the Christians didn't want to face it themselves....using the excuse of the patient couldn't handle it...blah...one has a right to know...if you can't do it then have the doctor. Believe me a patient knows things are not right...we can sense it....honest. Yes, it was cruel to not tell and admit that person isn't going to make it...wrong just plain wrong.....
