I have a friend at school whose ego is huge. She is annoying, loves to brag, outgoing, and thinks the world revolves around her. I have try various attempts to destroy, reduce, or bruise her ego permanently. The probably is that everything I attempt to bruise she of some of her ego but she iquickly heals and recovers. I have tried to ask her politely to get rid of her ego but she ignores me. Many of my friends at school find her very annoying

It doesn't sound like a simple ego problem, sounds like narcissism. You cannot bruise her feeling in this case. She needs therapy and possibly meds for this problem. It's a mental disorder and she may not be able to control it so you may want to keep that in mind when dealing with her. Good luck!

The simplest answer is to stop hanging around her. When you see her in the halls just say hi and keep walking.

IF enough of you give her the cold shoulder eventually she's going to know why you all don't hang with her anymore and it will be up to whomever she puts the question to, to tell her why.

The more you try to knock her down a peg, the more of a fool you will make of yourself.
Did you ever ask her why she's like that? Maybe it's her defense mechanism.

Good luck.

PS usually the best way to handle a situation like this is to use the direct approach.

Don't damage/bruise her ego. You'll be just as bad as her. Just don't hang out with her. People will start ignoring her, and she'll realize that she's a bother. Just don't sink to her level.

What you need to do is kind of a sniper attack. Do not say mean things but say things that someone would not say to someone who is all that. For instance point out when she has something on her face or something in her teeth. Or point out when her clothes are wrinkled. If she is trying to but into a conversation brush it off and say something like "wait a sec I was telling a story". If you have a strong frame she will have to stop acting like she is all that around you at least. Right now it seems like her frame is strongest so you need to make your frame stronger.
