Here's a poem I wrote for my friend about 5 years ago.
What is a True Friend?
Someone who you care about
And can share secrets with
Whom you love and trust
Someone who you can talk to
And lean on
When you need a helping hand
Who no matter how many fights you get into
Is always willing
To forgive and forget.
I believe I have been blessed when it comes to friends. I've had my 3 friends since 4 years old. It's amazing how many fights there were between us, the secrets, the rumors, the 'crushes' etc. No matter what happened though, we would always forgive one another.
True friendship needs all three of those things. Read the lryics to Bette Midler's "My One, True Friend" that describes alot.

True friends are one of Kind! So hard to find nowadays, but a true friend will tell u what your doing wrong, be HONEST, and be someone there when u really need them, whether on the phone or in person, but someone who understands you and if done something wrong or whatever, they should talk to u and let u no how they feel about it, and give u the truth about how they feel about u, and your lifestyle and such, they have to b HONEST with u and tell them how they feel, no matter how much it hurts a true friend will let u no if your wrong or right..........and u might get mad and such but it's being honest, and how they feel about u and tell u the truth......and u can't get upset what they say....if there looking out for u!
That's a TRUE friend!

when u trust them, they dont tell people ur secrets, theyre nice, theyre always there for u, they never call u a B I T C H, or an A S S H O L E, someone u know likes u. AND MUCH MORE! Trust me you will know when u hav/find a true friend or not.

True Friends mean they can trust each other. Someone who can count on each other and someone who is there for each other. a friend is someone who can help you when your down someone who can make you happy when your sad someone who can show you the light when its dark some one who can show you the bright side of things someone who will help you make your dreams come true

A TRUE friend is someone who is always there for you. Someone who has your back. Someone you could trust with your life. Someone you can confide in. Someone who likes you for who YOU are. Someone who understands how you feel, and is always willing to help you. Someone who won't leave you when something goes wrong. Someone who makes a promise to you, and keeps it. So basically:
Trustworthy
Caring
Thoughtful
Forgiving
Loyal
